ABOUT

Co-produced with Joon Switon (The Roots, Common) and Jammaz Jamz (Asian Dub Foundation), featuring Nathan
'Flutebox' Lee (Swindle, Greentea Peng), and mixed by John Hendicott (Jamie Woon) Guessing Games is Toby
Corton's final release for 2021. The single showcases Toby’s distinctively colloquial vocal style and empathetic storytelling
charms effortlessly in order to create a sound that is oozing with soul-tinged wonder as a result.
“Guessing Games, is a mantra for anyone who has come into contact romantically with a narcissist, inspired by my own brief
experience, but mostly by the women around me and their experiences with narcissists,” Toby explains. “From
observation when you're in that situation you can end up spending lots of time piecing together breadcrumbs or feel like
you're hanging on for something, always guessing never quite knowing. So Guessing Games is about the moment when you
relinquish that and say 'f*ck that! I'm not wasting another second of my time', and I hope the music matches that
irreverent and carefree feeling of coming out the other side.”

LYRICS

How can he be good for you, when he’s no good for himself?
Makes you doubt, makes you wonder and really that's no help
Says one thing this week to you, the next it's something new and I wish he make up his mind
Well I’m not trying to paint him bad, just saying he ain’t my kinda guy

Cos I ain't got time

Ain't got time for your guessing games,
I’m not a fucking detective
When it comes to falling in love I
Shoulda been more selective

How can he be good for you, only thinking of himself
Yeah you’re not his first consideration but that's easy to tell
A narcissist clearly, though he says loves you dearly, when it's all about I
Well I’m not trying to paint him bad, just saying he ain’t my kinda guy

Cos I ain't got time

Ain't got time for your guessing games,
I’m not a fucking detective
When it comes to falling in love I
Shoulda been more selective

No I ain't got no time for your games
Thanks for your interest but I’ll pass, if it's all the same

How can he be good for you, when he’s no good for, for himself?
Yeah he will, he’ll make you doubt, he’ll make you wonder and really that's no, really that's no help
Oh he’ll say one thing this week to you, the next it's something new and I wish he’d make up his mind
Well I’m not trying to paint him bad, just saying he ain't my kinda guys cos I ain't got time

No time
Ain't got no, no
No time
